Music on a
The Hamilton Township Community Band was formed in January of 2003 in conjunction with The Hamilton Township Community Education Department. The purpose of the band is to provide students and adults the opportunity to rehearse and perform a wide variety of Concert Band Literature. The target group for the band is students age 12 thru adult. Prospective members should have a knowledge of, and be competent playing in, concert keys through 4 sharps and 4 flats. Additional rhythmic knowledge should include a through knowledge of simple time signatures and the rhythmic patterns there in through all combinations of the sixteenth note. Also, all members should have a fundamental working knowledge of compound meter in single, duple, triple and quadruple time signatures. The band performs in a variety of venues that include outdoor and indoor concerts in and around the community as well as the occasional festival or special event that is out of town. Mostly we have fun!
